PLEASE NOTE THE CHANGE IN THE RIDE START LOCATION
Due to concerns about towing at Montgomery Plaza, we have secured permission from the First United Methodist Church in downtown Fort Worth to park in one of their lots for this Saturday's ride. There is a Buon Giorno Coffee shop and a Walgreens just south of this parking lot for anyone who requires caffeine and/or restrooms prior to the ride.
The lot we have permission to use is bordered by Henderson Street on the west and Macon Street on the east. The north boundary is West 5th Street and the south is West 7th Street. This lot is just south of the church (which is distinguished by its two spires). There is a statue of Jesus in the center of the lot. The lot can be entered on either the 800 block of West 5th Street or the 900 block of West 7th Street. Both streets allow 2-way traffic at this location.
To reach this location from the mid-cities, drive west into downtown Fort Worth on IH-30 and take Exit 13B (Texas 199 / Henderson Street) and go right on Henderson Street to West 7th Street. Turn right on West 7th Street and the parking lot will be on your left. If you miss the Henderson Street exit, take the Summit Ave exit, go right, then right on West 7th Street. Cross Henderson and the parking lot will be on your left.
============================
Come join us as we return to the Cliff House Studio, where artists Raymond Rains and Pamela Summers live and work. We're invited to watch as Raymond demonstrates glassblowing inside his warm and cozy studio at Eagle Mountain Lake.
We'll leave from the First United Methodist Church parking lot on West 7th Street in downtown Fort Worth and ride to the Cliff House on either a 40 or 52 mile route (your choice). There will be refreshments at the studio for the riders and stunning views of downtown Fort Worth. We'll even be able to see where our ride started, 13 miles distant (as the crow flies). After the demonstration we'll wind our way back to our starting point through neighborhoods both new and old.
The "REVISED* ride maps have been completed and can be accessed below. Since the church parking lot was on our original route, not much has changed other than the start location and a couple of turns at the start of the ride.
Even though this is a no-drop ride, I marked all the turns on the routes last Friday. I will also have maps and cue sheets available at the ride for anyone who wants one.
This will be a fun outing and the artists are looking forward to seeing us. We'll have great views of the Naval Air Station Joint Reserve Base Fort Worth (formerly Carswell Field) and may even get to see some F-16s overhead. We'll also have a long shoreline ride along Lake Worth.
On our return to downtown Fort Worth we'll go through the Fort Worth Stockyards (a herd of bicyclists - how appropriate!), past Joe T Garcia's, and enter downtown Fort Worth in dramatic fashion.
See you Saturday!
